Recent years have seen a huge spike in the number and quality of Egyptian indie artists. Whether they’re students posting their art on social media or professionals who make a living from making art, it’s evident that Egyptians have a lot of talent, so much that they should be as appreciated and supported as foreign artists. One medium that supports artists in Egypt is CairoComix, and here’s all you need to know about it.

What Is CairoComix Festival?

Founded in 2015, CairoComix has established itself as a leading event celebrating comic art and independent creators in Egypt. Over the years, the festival has showcased a variety of activities, including exhibitions, hands-on workshops, portfolio assessments, and an awards programme honouring achievements such as Best Arabic Graphic Novel, Best Digital Comic, Best Comics Magazine, and Best Comic Strip.

When And Where Is CairoComix 10th Edition

The festival will be held across three days, the 7th, 8th, and 9th of November 2025, at the Mahmoud Mokhtar Museum in Cairo, from 12 pm till 8 pm. And if you’re worried about the entrance fee, rest easy; it’s free for everyone.

Indie Artists At CairoComix

One of the best parts of the festival is its Indie Artists’ Square. A vibrant area where creators present and sell their artwork straight to attendees. The festival further celebrates artistic diversity by blending comics with other creative disciplines, such as animation, street art, video art, and graphic design, making it a key player in the independent arts movement across Egypt and the broader MENA region.

CairoComix 10 Brings Back the History of Egyptian Comic Art

CairoComix is commemorating 100 years of Egyptian comic art with a curated exhibition that brings together a vast archive of original artwork, magazine covers, and pages personally signed by their artists. The collection celebrates characters and creations that have left a lasting mark on Egypt’s comic history throughout the past century.

With the resurgence of interest in comics, the festival seeks to preserve and share this artistic archive, honouring the contributions of Egyptian illustrators, writers, and publishers while making their work accessible to new generations.

This celebration not only highlights Egypt’s rich creative heritage but also encourages continued innovation while preserving the country’s artistic roots.

How You Can Support Egyptian Indie Artists

Supporting artists is easier than you would think. Just by attending the event and maybe also buying some of their merchandise, you can make a huge difference in an artist’s journey. Also, by following their social media and sharing their art with your friends to spread word of mouth, you can wholeheartedly support indie artists.
