From being a champion, to having a swimming complex with her name on it! Farida Osman, the winner of many accolades, has been honoured by The Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sport with a swimming pool complex named after her: The Farida Osman Swimming Complex.

Osman announced this on her Instagram, by putting a photo of her cutting the red ribbon. In addition, she captured how she felt with a heart-felt caption that said “Extremely honoured and proud.” We’re all really proud of her too.

In the past, the Swimming Complex was planned for water polo, but with Osman winning the bronze medal in the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest, the direction changed. The Farida Osman Swimming Complex is located in Zamalek, as part of the Giza Youth Centre.

Even though Osman is only 23 years old, she has become really well known since winning the bronze medal, installing herself as a positive role model to all the young ladies who take swimming pretty seriously.

We also have to remind you that she was the reason Egypt was placed 11th on the medals chart in the 3rd FINA Junior World Championship, set a new Junior African record with a time of 26.36 in the 8th Junior African Championship, holds the African Record in the 100m butterfly where she finished the 12th, and finally, isthe African record holder in the 50m butterfly.

We need more role models like her to influence this generation!
