Landing double the amount of votes of last year, Egypt just jumped from 3rd to 2nd place in DIVE magazine’s Top 10 Scuba Diving Destinations. For three years straight, Indonesia secured its spot at the top, while Egypt and Mexico followed in 2nd and 3rd place respectively this year. 

The Red Sea is a cornerstone of Egypt’s tourism sector as its breathtaking reefs boast more than 400 species of coral and hundreds of species of fish. DIVE recommended Ras Mohammed, The Brothers, and St. John’s Reef as the hottest diving spots.

Egypt has been struggling with boosting tourism for a few years, especially after the Russian Metrojet incident back in 2015. However, after lifting the 4-year flight ban that followed, and after the country securing the third place on Lonely Planet’s “Best in Travel 2020”, Egyptian tourism is undoubtedly getting better publicity.
