The anticipated El Gouna Film Festival’s (GFF) third edition is getting closer every day. We’re very excited about the prestigious event that’ll be held on the 19th of September, especially since we found out that the first Egyptian animation feature film will be premiering there. “El Fares Wel Amira” will be having a special screening at the festival before it hits the movie theatres this October, and we’re here to tell you all about it.

The animation’s filmmakers have waited almost 18 years to bring their movie to life after struggling with finding a producer, but they never lost hope. The events take us back to the 7th century, following the true story of Mohamed bin El Qasem. The hero goes on an adventure to save those held captive by the evil pirates in the Indian ocean. What could possibly be waiting for him? Well, it seems like we just have to wait to find out.

The 2D film is really special as it’s the first animated Egyptian feature film that’ll hit the theatres. It’s written and directed by Beshir El Dik, produced by Abbas Abu El Abbas, while the soundtracks are composed by Haytham El Khameesy. Voice overs are by actors Mohamed Heneidy, Donia Samir Ghanem, Maged El Kedwany, and Abd El Rahman Abu Zahra. The songwriters who wrote the soundtrack of the film are Zeinab Mubarak and Amr Hosny.

El Gouna Film Festival will take place from the 19th to 27th of September this year. It was first launched in 2017, making us incredibly proud of all the dazzling preparations. Many international prominent figures in the scene came to Egypt to attend the previous editions. Those include the likes of Forest Whitaker, Sylvester Stallone, Owen Wilson, Patrick Dempsey, Vanessa Williams, and more.
