As 2021 comes to a close, we all know what time it is. No, we’re not talking Christmas or New Year’s. We’re actually talking about something much, much bigger than that – it’s time to face the music and look our Spotify 2021 Wrapped lists in the eye!

Right now, we imagine you’re hiding your face in shame as you remember all the cringey tracks you’ve had on loop all year. But don’t be embarrassed; we all have skeletons in our closets and, if you hide now, well, how will you read ahead to know who Egypt’s most listened to artists were?

See, we have Egypt’s Most Streamed Artists right here for your reading pleasure. And, no, pleasure is not an exaggeration because, if we may say so, these artists have truly brought their A-game this year.

Well, what are you waiting for? Go on and read ahead, and if you want to take notes on who to add to that playlist of yours, be our guest!

#10: Afroto

via YouTube

Yes, ladies and gents, the infamous Ebn El-Seyouf has placed tenth on the list of Spotify’s top 10 Most Streamed Artists this year! Rap beefs and controversies aside, Afroto has churned out hit after hit this year, with his track Mesh Bel Hozoz being one of the most-streamed tracks on Spotify.

#9: Mohamed Hamaki

via Spotify

A perfect choice for a near-perfect list, and we honestly cannot blame anyone who’s been jamming out to Hamaki this year. The artist put a considerable amount of work into crafting the perfect bops for us, after all.

#8: The Weeknd

via Hypebeast

2021 saw The Weekend go from dark and moody to fun and, well, moody, and the listeners still tuned in because that’s just the kind of magic that the Canadian artist put into his tracks.

#7: Lege-Cy

via YouTube

With 2021 being his comeback year, it was only fitting that Lege-Cy is on this list. It’s not like he hadn’t worked hard to earn his place, and his EP Plan B is a perfect testament to this fact.

#6: BTS

via Footwear News

The K-pop wave left no survivors in its wake, and Egypt was no different. That’s okay, though, because this wave gave us the one and only BTS, and we couldn’t be more grateful, apparently, because we haven’t stopped listening to them since!

#5: Marwan Moussa

via YouTube

2021 was a big, big year for Marwan Moussa – his Florida album was released, he fell into the Egyptian rap beef of the year with Abyusif, and was almost banned from performing live. And yet, we’ve enjoyed his music so much this year that his track Tesla is one of Egypt’s most-streamed songs.

#4: Abyusif

via YouTube

Speaking of Abyusif, you couldn’t have possibly thought this list would be over without his name being mentioned, right? Of course not, because the spiritual father of Egyptian rap has had one hell of a busy year with several tracks, two albums (with one awaiting a highly-anticipated release), beefs, videos, and much more!

#3: Marwan Pablo

via Spotify

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, of course the man behind the biggest comeback of the year is on Spotify’s Most Streamed Artists list. You don’t go viral for several weeks without turning a few heads…and making Spotify listeners place a comeback track like Ghaba (as well as CTRL) firmly on its most-streamed songs list.

#2: Amr Diab

via YouTube

As Egypt’s most beloved singer, Amr Diab has crafted a rich legacy with his fun music, and as of 2021, that still hasn’t changed. Perhaps the only change is that he’s NOT the most listened to artist anymore.

#1: Wegz

via Spotify

Guess who’s Spotify’s Most Streamed Artist two years in a row? Wegz, that’s who! With tracks such as Asyad El Soot, Afareet El Asphalt, Msh Fair, and Hustla on Spotify’s most-streamed songs, it’s not exactly surprising. The only question here is can the Bimbo actor/rapper keep up this record next year?
