As Egyptians, let’s agree that we all grew up listening to very creepy songs that we secretly enjoyed. Some of these songs are mostly remembered word for word and are even passed on to new generations! Yet thankfully, some of them has died out. So why don’t we cringe a bit together by remembering those songs? (Note: It will be hard not to sing along)

1- “Mama Zamanha Gaya”

A classic lullaby that has been in our culture for decades. The part about the mother is somehow acceptable, but what happened to Adel was definitely not okay! Even though, we all know for sure that we don’t want to be in his place. However, as children, we all sang along happily to his trauma!

2- “El-‘Abd We El-Sheitan”

About 15 years ago, Mahmoud El Hossainy decided to release a song that is basically a dialogue between a human and the devil. For some unknown reasons, this song was a hit and it got super popular! As catchy as it was, let’s keep in mind that it was also insanely weird!

3- “Shaymaa”

We have heard many songs about love stories and separations, but we have never heard one about a duck! This song has only very few verses, yet it is now mainstreamed and played in weddings all the time!

4-  “Ana Si El-Sayed”

Few years ago, Tamer Hosny has really freaked us out with this song and its movie clip! The lyrics were cringe-worthy as well as the visuals. Most importantly, why did they drag Snoop Dog all the way to Egypt to sing about toxic masculinity?

5- “Halal ‘Aleek”

In 1992, Hameed El-Sha’ery and Hisham Abbas dropped this song. Obviously, they were having this weird crush on a girl whom they kept offering to one another! In the movie clip, the seemed too happy about the matter. Years later and the question still remains, who ended up with this girl?

6-  “Albey ‘Asheqha”

Ragheb Alama sang about this girl who he was deeply in love with. The song is very sweet and catchy. But here’s the thing about this song, the lyrics and the movie clip clearly indicates that the girl was underage! Terrifying, isn’t it?

7-  “ElAaab”

Maria and Jad Shwery were a duo that made many songs that were bluntly inappropriate! Back then, this song was the one that stood out the most as some parents used to prevent their kids from even listening to it. On the other hand, where is this pair now, though?

8- “Ama Na’ema”

In this extremely weird song, Marwa wanted to marry “Alewa” and she had A LOT of demands for the poor guy! Mainly, she wanted him to give her a call and it seemed very urgent. Why did we had to listen to all that?

9-  “Baba Obah”

This classic song still makes no sense until this day. The lyrics sound like gibberish that rhymes, and the fact that kids are singing it makes it more incomprehensible!

10- “Ana Dana”

In case you’re wondering who sang this song; it’s Dana Halabi and she made sure that everyone remembers her name by repeating it several times in this song! We also got to know that she has intentions to dance, sing or do anything for her crush. Again, why did we need to know that?
