Since the release of Eid al-Adha movies, Egypt’s cinematic theatres have welcomed several international blockbusters. With that said, many films have been in production purgatory, with no expected release date set in stone. You can check them out here.

As for the summer movies expected to release in the upcoming months, we have a handful of exciting projects premiering in August. We’ll be witnessing the screening of films from various genres, but there’s a clear predominance of comedies lately. Check out the movies below!

Mar3y El Breemo (August 2nd)

The month will start with a comedy starring Mohamed Heneidy and Ghada Adel. The duo is reuniting for the first time since their early days when they gave us cult classics like Belya w Demagho El 3alia and Se3eedy Fi El Gam3a El Amrekeya.

Heneidy also released a statement promising fans that this movie would be of the same essence as his old work, acknowledging people’s criticism over his latest releases.

Voy! Voy! Voy! (August 9th)

Another highly anticipated movie is Mohamed Farag and Nelly Karim’s controversial production. This movie was expected to be released by the start of the year but was halted due to intellectual copyright issues, which you can read all about here.

El Batta El Safra (August 9th)

For the second time on this list, Ghada Adel is back with yet another comedy, this time alongside Mohamed Abdelrahman. Since the movie’s promotion, a photo of Egypt’s very own Mo Salah playing with a rubber yellow duck surfaced, raising speculations about his possible cameo in the film. Could it be?

3al Zero (August 10th)

Also featuring the iconic Nelly Karim, this postponed movie co-stars Mohamed Ramadan. Even though many have speculated that the postponement was due to Ramadan’s fear of Eid’s cinematic competition, the movie has been getting much excitement from fans, especially since the release of its trailer and catchy promotion song.

Abo Nassab (August 15th)

Another movie that was expected to screen during Eid is Mohamed Imam’s latest work with Yasmine Sabry. The delayed filming process resulted in its postponement, but the dynamic duo are ready to take the world by storm with their third collab.

It’s noteworthy that Imam’s body transformation from bulk to dad bod has fans eagerly awaiting what he has up his sleeve — or under his belly, for that matter.

5 Gawlat (August 16th)

This film was promoted for Eid Al-Fitr and has been in limbo since. The movie features Aida El Ayouby’s first acting role since 1994, alongside a number of fresh faces and rising youths, from Adam El Sharkawy to Nour Nabawy, Dalia Mostafa, and rapper ARSENIK’s debut in acting.

Wesh Fi Wesh (August 17th)

If Khali Balak Min Zizi had a baby with El Harsha El Sab3a, this movie would be their child. Amina Khalil is back as Mohamed Mamdouh’s wife, with Asmaa Galal and Mohamed Shahin as their relatives. We watch the family dramedy in this movie take place in a single location, a couple’s home, during one night.

Shamareekh (August 30th)

Last for August is Amr Salama’s latest directorial project starring Asser Yassin and Amina Khalil. This movie, too, was expected to release during Eid al-Adha before getting postponed. It will feature the last scenes acted by the late Mostafa Darwish, who passed away unexpectedly a couple of months ago during filming.
