If you’re by any chance on glow up TikTok, hair trends are definitely something you’ve come across. Hair trends on TikTok range from oiling to hair products and tools. So, we’ve compiled a list of trending hair products and reviewed each thoroughly to save you the hassle. Ranked from our favourite to least favourite, we made sure to try everything so you don’t have to.
Almond Oil
At the top of our list is almond oil. Almond oil is a great hair moisturiser and helps reduce scalp irritation, causing the hair to shine and attain a healthy look. Great for dye and heat-damaged hair, almond oil will cut miles off your hair journey through constant use and is highly recommended.
Castor Oil
For those looking to grow their hair, look no more. Castor oil has had a stigma around it for decades that it helps improve hair growth rates, and now it has resurfaced with Gen Z and made it to TikTok. The stigma is, in fact, true—castor oil is an excellent product for hair growth, and one of its best perks is that even after you stop its use, the hair remains and doesn’t fall out, unlike other hair growth methods.
Rosemary Water Spray
In third place is rosemary water spray. The product, whether bought or made at home, is excellent for hair growth and smells refreshing as well. One of the rosemary water spray’s biggest perks is that it’s very light and can be used daily without affecting the level of scalp oiliness, which is great. Its greatest downfall remains that the hair returns to its old state once usage is paused.
Rice Water Spray
Kicking off our list of least favourites, rice water has established a spot. The rice water spray is great for stimulating hair follicles, causing amazing growth rates in a very short time. However, its smell lingers in the hair for days and has caused dandruff for many people.
Scalp Massagers
via Health
Despite all the pleasant comments about scalp massagers, using your hand will induce the same results. If not used in particular ways and directions, the product can actually cause hair fall by pulling out hair from the roots.
Minoxidil
via Wimpole Clinic
The last product on our list and our least favourite is minoxidil. The product is effective and causes fantastic hair growth results, but it is not made for the FYP suggestions. Minoxidil is a medical treatment that should be monitored by a doctor and only used when prescribed. It has side effects, and not everyone can use it, so make sure to get a proper medical prescription.
