The iconic Egyptian actress, Laila Elwi, has been named as a member of the jury in the feature film committee at Malmo Arab Film Festival (MAFF) 2019. Elwi was appointed along with Tunisian director, Reda El Bahi, and Iraqi critic, Qais Qasim. 

MAFF is an annual Swedish festival that’s held to explore the Arab culture and cinema, offering a meeting ground for the Nordic and Arab film industries. It was founded by Mouhamad Keblawi in 2011.

This year, MAFF will be held from the 4th to the 8th of October, featuring a variety of participating Egyptian documentary, short, and feature films. Those include Yommedine, Shoka w Skina, and Kilo 64.

The premiere of the Egyptian film, Yom w Leila, will be part of the closing ceremony on the 8th of October. The film is directed by Ayman Makram and stars Ahmed El Fishawy and Dorra.
