Earlier this year, Portuguese football coach, Manuel Jose, announced his retirement for football, closing the curtains on a glittering career in Egypt that witnessed winning various awards and championships. But like so many big personalities, being a person of leisure just wasn’t cutting it and he’s hurried back to the sport he loves with Wadi Degla Clubs.

The seasoned manager has been announced as the new Technical Advisor at Wadi Degla’s Soccer Schools and he is brought along strength and conditioning coach, Fidalgo Antunes to help in shaping coming generations’ football stars as being his main assistant.

Wadi Degla’s huge coup was announced at Wadi Degla Maadi with the likes of Wadi Degla club chairman, Hassan El-Mestikawy, Sports Director, Karim Darwish, and General Manager Soccer Schools, Islam Shoukry, all in attendance to unveil the newest member of the backroom staff.

“Wadi Degla Clubs has been always keen on providing both distinctive and exceptional quality sports services,” El Mistikawy proudly said at the event. “This was initially achieved through our agreement with the Arsenal F.C football academy and now by partnering with the veteran football coach, Manuel Jose, who will lift the school to new heights.”

With the success of squash stars such as Raneem El Weleily, Nouran Gohar and Karim Dariwsh, having honed their skills at Wadi Degla, Jose will be hoping to have the same impact on Wadi Degla’s already advanced, state-of-the-art youth facilities. The club’s new recruit is the cherry-on-top of a set-up that is aiming to be a major source of Egyptian football talent for years to come.
