Khaled El Nabawy is not only a great actor—but he’s also the kind of actor who innately knows how to make you fall in love with whoever he’s playing in absolutely no time. He knows how to give us action, drama, comedy, and even romance, as he doesn’t just rely on his acting skills. He also relies on his heart and uses it to his benefit, making us feel the character’s emotional range to its extent.
Because of all that, we’re here to tell you that we think this year’s Ramadan dark horse is El Nabawy’s Rag’een Ya Hawa. Only a couple of episodes in, this previously overlooked show is the show that everyone’s going crazy for. And with its AMAZING casting and interesting plot, it’s no wonder we all want to know what happens next!

What’s the show about?
Rag’een Ya Hawa tells the story of Baleegh Abo El Hana, a businessman who turns every single business he starts into a failure, leading him to be in massive debt to dangerous people. In fact, that’s the situation he’s in when we first meet him—about to be brutally beaten because of his debt. However, Baleegh quickly leaves Budapest for Cairo to stake his claim to his share of his family’s inheritance, having to deal with his two sisters-in-law, who he’s NOT on good terms with.
Baleegh goes through a series of odd situations when he comes back from Budapest, with one of those situations being a mysterious phone call that tells him to be cautious. Naturally, he starts investigating whether the warning is credible or not.
Meanwhile, the family (Baleegh’s sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and their wives) all go through struggles of their own, all pertaining to the family.
However, there’s one thing that we truly cannot stop thinking about because we couldn’t quite understand it—why did the show use the historical Beit El Seheimy, one of Old Cairo’s most prominent landmarks, as the ‘home’ of one of the family members? A place that historical is instantly recognisable and, frankly, should be treated with more respect.
Give it up for the brilliant casting!
Here’s a rare thing about this show: Every single actor was perfectly cast, and we can’t not talk about that! We also can’t get over how Nour El Nabawy effortlessly carried his weight, acting side by side with his father, Khaled El Nabawy.
Usually, actors with parents in showbiz begin their careers being somewhat stunted in terms of acting skills, but Nour El Nabawy was extremely natural, knowing exactly what to do and how to do it. He even—dare we say—stole his father’s spotlight a couple of times! We’re not exaggerating when we say how dazzled we were by his refined acting skills.

Speaking of that, there’s another Nour—the Lebanese Nour, who we loved seeing because we’re glad she's back on our TVs, stealing the show every time through her sheer charisma and beauty—we couldn’t be happier she's back to acting full-time again!
Although we didn’t see it coming, we love the way Anoushka and Wafaa Amer mesh together, as both women are naturally-gifted actresses who lead the show as much as El Nabawy does. We also love the choice of actors for both of their on-screen families.
And because we’re giving everyone their due, we have to say this next thing, even though most of you might not believe it: Salma Abu Deif’s acting has finally improved, and we’d like to thank the acting workshops she’s been through for that. Seriously, at this point, we’re genuinely PROUD of her progress—she came a long, long way.
