April 2nd was World Autism Awareness Day and, thanks to the Egyptian Autistic Society & Momentum Egypt, Cairo played a big part in it.

For those of you who aren't exactly sure, autism is a brain development disorder which profoundly affects the functioning of the brain.
The puzzle icon is used globally to represent autism, as the missing piece of the puzzle represents the part of autistic people's brains that contain communication, social and behavioral skills. Symptoms can occur in many combinations and may range from moderate to severe. Nevertheless, children with autism often look normal, but seem to be withdrawn into their own world.
The Egyptian Autistic Society is a non-profit organization which aims to help improve the lives of those with autism.

In support of the Momentum's "More to Autism" campaign for the EAS, 12 prominent buildings and monuments lit up in blue for the occasion and an awareness event was held at the Fairmont Nile City hotel.

The EAS also dropped these viral autism awareness ads, featuring Actress Amina Khalil and Stylist Dina Nadeem!
