The long-awaited third instalment of the Welad Rizk has finally hit the screens, bringing a mix of nostalgia, action, and new twists. This action-packed thriller reintroduces the beloved Rizk brothers, who, after years of walking different paths, are forced back into a life of crime by a ghost from their past.

With its gripping plot and star-studded cast, Welad Rizk 3 promises to be a cinematic experience that both old fans and new viewers won't want to miss, and here's why:

A Risky Reunion

Years have passed since the last heist, and the Rizk brothers have settled into different walks of life. However, their peaceful existence is shattered when a spectre from their past emerges, compelling them to reunite for their riskiest and most critical operation yet. This high-stakes mission tests their bond, skills, and loyalty as they again navigate the underworld.

Character Recap

A brief recap of the key characters would have been helpful, given that it's been four years since the second instalment and eight since the first. This is especially true since the film brings back numerous characters from the previous parts, making it challenging for viewers to recall who's who without a refresher. For those planning to watch Welad Rizk 3, rewatching the first two films is recommended to get reacquainted with the characters.

Riyadh vs. Ain El Seera

Welad Rizk 3 stirred mixed opinions before its release due to its partial setting in Riyadh, deviating from the familiar heist missions by the boys from Ain El Seera. While some fans questioned the believability of this odd shift, the film manages to blend the settings seamlessly.

Funded by Saudi Arabia's Turk El Sheikh, this collaboration not only increases the movie's budget but also promotes Saudi's touristic spots. The higher budget is evident in the film's production quality, benefitting both Egyptian and Saudi interests.

Authenticity Preserved

Despite the location change, Welad Rizk 3 retains its authentic charm. The film maintains the character-driven narrative and familiar flow, with interrogations leading into the heist story. The R-rated jokes, puns, and witty wordplay that fans love are still very much present, keeping the essence of the series intact.

Star-Studded Cast

The film treats fans with a bunch of star favourites like Mohamed Mamdouh, Sayed Ragab, Mohamed Lotfy, Nesrine Ameen, and Eyad Nassar. However, Ahmed El Fishawy and Ahmed Dawood are notably absent due to their busy schedules, with only one of their absences being addressed in the storyline.

Aly Sobhy, Asmaa Galal, and Ahmed El Refaie play new characters who add fresh dynamics to the plot. Internationally, rumours of Henry Cavill's appearance were debunked, but viewers were treated to a cameo by boxer Tyson Fury.

Memorable Cameos

Unlike the previous instalments, where cameos by Youssra, Shereen Reda, and Sawsan Badr had little impact, this year's features are more integrated and memorable appearances. Characters like El Nounou, whose identity we'll keep a surprise, play a pivotal role in the plot. Though pre-announced by Turk El Sheikh, Karim Abdelaziz's cameo still adds a thrilling element.

Direction and Action

Directed by Tarek El Eryan, Welad Rizk 3 showcases significant upgrades in action sequences, particularly car chases that are reminiscent of the Fast and Furious franchise. While we would have anticipated more enhancements in the fight scenes, the film delivers high-quality action consistent with its predecessors.

Future Instalments

Don't miss the post-credit scenes, which promise to leave you in stitches. Looking ahead, the anticipation builds for future sequels, including a potential fourth and fifth instalment, as well as Asser Yassin's postponed spin-off El Shayeb. Here's hoping the wait won't be another four years.
