As the new season of The Umbrella Academy makes it to the top charts (the usual), we decided to recall some of its most important episodes. Across the 3 seasons, showrunner Steve Blackman did not fail to amaze us once! Here's a brief recap of the best episodes of The Umbrella Academy.

The Day That Wasn't (Season 1 - Episode 6)

IMDb Score: 8.3/10

In The Day That Wasn't, Klaus accidentally time-travels, meeting Dave amid the Vietnam War (where they both served in the military). After he travels back to the present, he recalls details of the battle Dave was killed in, when he was holding him and desperately calling for a medic.

Parallely, Leonard tries to convince Vanya that she has superpowers, but she refuses to believe him. By the end of the episode, Vanya finds a diary of Sir Reginald Hargreeves that confirms she has superpowers and that he tried to mask and control them with medications.

From Luther's attempts to discover the meaning behind his quest to the moon (only to find out he was sent there because his father thought he wasn't good enough) to Allison's reminiscing on past flames and Vanya's search for love in Leonard, this episode is special because it showcases the unique and different reactions of the characters to the same crisis.

The White Violin (Season 1 - Episode 10)

IMDb Score: 8.7/10

While Vanya plays the violin, her raging power turns her eyes blue. Years of resentment and abuse are finally dawning on her, and she wants to take revenge. There is only one problem: Vanya, as Sir Reginald Hargreeves explained in his diaries, fails miserably at controlling her powers. Vanya's anger and discontent drive the start of the apocalypse, and her revenge would be the end of the world.

The White Violin effortlessly earned the second highest-rated episode of the entire series.  Showrunner Steve Blackman eloquently concluded the first season, leaving fans wondering what the next one possibly holds for them.

Right Back Where We Started (Season 2 - Episode 1)

IMDb Score: 8.2/10

In an attempt to go back in time and make things right with Vanya, the finale of season 1 ends with Five time-travelling with his siblings and escaping the apocalypse. Right Back Where We Started, the first episode in season 2, reveals their unsuccessful quest as they all get scattered in different years. Klaus and Ben arrived in 1960, Allison in 1961, Luther in 1962, and Diego, Viktor, and Five in 1963.

This episode takes us on a journey to uncover the lives that the characters created for themselves after finding themselves all alone. And, of course, Five's usual struggle to bring the Hargreeves together on a mission to save the world

The End of Something (Season 2 - Episode 10)

IMDb Score: 8.9/10

The second apocalypse happens in the season 2 finale when the police chase Vanya. Once again, her powers throw things out of proportion. However, Ben comforts and helps her control her powers. Only this time, Vanya isn't the only problem.

After Vanya has transferred some of her powers to Harlan, the family gathers at Sissy's farm to rescue him and stop him from harming anyone. The season ends with their acquaintance with the Sparrow Academy after they travel forward to the present. Surprisingly, Sir Reginald Hargreaves is not dead and, instead, has been expecting them.

Why was he expecting them? Who are the Sparrow Academy? Those were vital questions that were answered so articulately in season 3.

Auf Wiedersehen (Season 3 - Episode 7)

IMDb Score: 7.8/10

The Sparrows and the Umbrellas team up to defeat the Kugelblitz. In their endeavour, Grace (their mother) attempts to kill them, which drives Five to kill her. After entrapping the Kugelblitz inside Christopher, they assume victory. However, it didn't last long since Christopher suddenly blew up, and the Kugelblitz reopened.

In this episode, we loved seeing the family's love and warmth after Luther proposed to Sloane and Lila announced her pregnancy. A truly turbulent episode and the highest-rated episode in season 3, Auf Wiedersehen proudly makes it to the best episodes in the series.

Seven Bells (Season 3 - Episode 9)

IMDb Score: 7.7/10

As the Kugelblitz devours the hotel, the siblings and Reginald escape through the hidden passage into the Hotel Oblivion. Abruptly, Reginald pushes Klaus behind and abandons him, provoking a moment of awe for the fans.

Outsmarting him, Klaus secures a spot in the afterlife by killing himself on the buffalo horns and dies. Finally, we learn that Klaus cannot only conjure the dead but is also potentially immortal. Seven Bells indeed come in second place on the season for a reason.
