Each Ramadan, we are granted one show that sticks with us for many seasons of Ramadan to come. Without a doubt, this Ramadan’s programme to be remembered for years ahead is the light and relatable Kamel El Adad, starring Dina El Sherbiny and Sherif Salama.

Despite raising the stakes by being the first series to premiere this Ramadan, this comedy-drama was one of our favourites and ultimately broke our hearts when it came to an end on Monday evening. Don’t get us wrong; the finale was phenomenal, but we’re saddened that the show won’t be airing any more episodes to keep us company for the remaining days of Ramadan. Check out our thoughts on the series grand finale — spoiler alerts ahead.

 The Season Finale

With episode 14 ending with the tragedy of the beloved Magdy Naw Naw’s death, we didn’t think the last episode would bring much happiness. The characters were preparing for new beginnings, all while experiencing the loss of one of their best friends. Ahmed’s kids were set to return to the States, Ahmed faced a tricky lawsuit, and the grappling conflict between Ramadan’s favourite TV couple had the two characters ready to divorce.

That’s why when Ahmed’s kids decided not to travel back to the US and reunite as a family with Layla’s, we couldn’t feel more satisfied! We loved that each of the show’s characters had a happy ending, including Layla’s sister, who received a heartwarming proposal from Khaled, and Badra, who got pregnant. We also adored Farah (Celia Saad) and Hayat’s (Esaad Younes) talent show performance that took our breaths away and made us a little emotional, considering Esaad Younes finally returned to our screens with such a lovely character after a hiatus.

And, of course, we can’t forget to mention how much we loved the surprise of Layla’s pregnancy announcement at the wedding, marking the eighth kid for the couple!

Our Thoughts About the Show

via Altreeq

We loved every second of Kamel El Adad, from the first episode to its last. We looked forward to watching this series daily post-Iftar to see where life would take Ahmed, Layla, and their seven children, who drove them insane.

All the actors in the series had an undeniable chemistry that made every scene of the show worth watching, and we loved witnessing the several young rising actors excel. The perfectly-cast show filled us with the joy and warmth of joining the on-screen family as they stuck together through their ups and downs.

We hoped this series would be 30 rather than 15 episodes because it got better with each new episode released. But regardless, we thank Shahid for giving us one of the warmest shows we’ve seen in a long time.

If you’re still hesitant about watching the series, we recommend rushing to your Shahid account to start streaming it immediately!
