Over the years, we’ve watched many Ramadan series that were nothing short of masterful and unique—nowadays, they can even be considered classics! These masterpieces were aired like any other series in Ramadan, but they were definitely special as they stood the test of time. Allow us to jog your memory with these five series that you have probably watched or rewatched and, of course, enjoyed!

Taht El-Saytara

A series about the struggle of people facing addiction, Taht El Saytara showed us a story that many of us didn’t know much about before watching! We are all familiar with Taht El-Saytara, as it was a hit when it first aired in 2015. This dramatic masterpiece caught our attention and got our sympathy back in the day, and it also introduced us to Jamila Awad, who was beginning her acting journey with a small yet insanely powerful role.

El-Kebir

Who doesn’t know about the hilarious journey of El-Kebir and Johnny in Mazzarita? Everyone does! The comedic series began airing in 2010 and kept us laughing until 2015, marking its territory as the gift that keeps on giving! The entire cast portrayed an array of Upper-Egyptian characters in an authentic yet funny manner, and it goes without saying that the jokes were hilarious and, of course, well-written.

Yetraba Fi Ezo

We felt all kinds of emotions with and towards Hamada Ezo and his family back in 2007, so it’s not odd to say we still have a lot of sentimental feelings for this show! No one knew that they could love a spoiled old man that much and then feel all the sadness in the world for him when his mother, our beloved Mama Noona, died. This episode, as well as the rest of the series, stood the test of time and is now considered one of the best episodes that ever aired on Egyptian TV!

Haza El-Masa’

An underrated show from 2017, Haza El Masa’ wasn’t watched by everyone, but those who did definitely enjoyed every second of it! It had different storylines that were somehow all connected. As always, we greatly appreciated Mohamed Farag’s performance as he just lives for portraying complex characters in the best way possible! The plot twists were shocking, and the ending was unexpected. Give it a watch if you haven’t already!

A’dyet Ra’ey ‘Am

In 2007, this bold series was released, discussing the case of three women who were raped and abused—a topic not often addressed by Egyptian TV shows. A’dyet Ra’ey ‘Am was as empowering as it was exhilarating to see the three female protagonists get their justice from the monstrous men who wronged them. We are grateful for this series and its influence since it started many difficult conversations in Egypt.
