Some cinematic and TV pieces are best left alone without needing a second storyline. No matter how good they are, sequels can pretty much ruin them if they aren’t done right. The success of one doesn’t guarantee the success of another one, especially if the idea itself is repetitive. Can’t we just go for novel ideas with similar casting, for example?
Don’t know what kind of sequels we’re talking about? Then, allow us to elaborate more with examples of sequels that we think were unnecessary.
1- Blue Elephant 2
The original Blue Elephant movie and its sequel were absolute hits. It’s also needless to say that they were both well-made! However, didn’t the second movie feel like more of the same thing? Indeed, Hend Sabri is an acting giant who gave us a spine-chilling performance, but we think it’s hard to top Khalid El-Sawy’s performance as a psychotic villain. We also believe the introduction of a new villain was rather unnecessary. On the other hand, we are still looking forward to seeing what is going to happen in the third movie of this series!

2- El-Le’ba
It’s a fact that Chiko and Hesham Maged are one of the best duos that we have ever watched—and it’s a fact they prove more in this series! Unfortunately, while the first season of El-Le’ba was an absolute gem, the show hit the ‘boring button’ in the other two seasons. An interesting wholesome finale for season one could have put a better end to this “game” (pun intended).

3- El-Kebeer Awi
A well-crafted sitcom with six whole seasons, it’s hard to deny that we watched and enjoyed El-Kebeer Awi. But it’s definitely getting really boring! As the seasons kept coming, the jokes became less funny, especially during this Ramadan season. Nevertheless, the entire cast gave us an amusing performance and, of course, tons of nostalgia as it has been years since we’ve seen them all together.

4- Hekayat Banat
The squad of girls that we all loved and cherished watching, Hekayat Banat has given us a friend group with stories that lasted up to four seasons, all filled with gossip and drama. The series was such a hit when it was first released and remained so—right until the showrunners decided to change the cast. That was when it lost its essence and became nothing but a filler show. Can we just stop changing casts in sequels? If you’re going to stick to the story, stick to its cast!
