Since you’ve read the title of this article, allow us to start by saying that if your partner has any of the following red flags, maybe don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day with them! On a serious note, the concept of red flags is extremely tricky, and many people take it lightly. Let us expand more on the matter and what some real red flags are.
Intense red flags
1- Feeling bad about yourself
If your partner uses words that make you question your worth in any way, that’s a huge no-no sign! Nothing should ever mess with your self-esteem to the point where it makes you second guess yourself, your decisions, or your relationship.
2- Never listening to you
Your partner should give you a safe space to vent whenever you need to. They shouldn’t just ignore you or give you generic replies that don’t make any sense. This makes the entire relationship revolve around one person when it should be a two-way thing! Who needs that?
3- Extreme and meaningless jealousy
Jealousy isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In fact, we might even argue that it’s needed (in small doses) in most relationships. However, we all have interactive lives where we deal with the opposite gender, so a little trust could go a long way. Also, what is up with the “don’t wear this outfit except when you’re with me” wave that has been going around? That’s the clearest example of what we mean by meaningless jealousy, people!
4- Never talking about your future together
When we truly love somebody, we definitely give them a part in our future plans. That’s why avoiding all talk about the future should raise some questions. In a committed relationship, your ‘bae’ should be all about the support you need to make any type of plan. If you and your partner don’t see things going that way, then there is something wrong, probably.

Meme-like red flags
Even though spotting red flags is a serious issue, people tend to joke about it and post a lot of memes about the whole thing. Sometimes, people will use zodiac signs and personal taste in movies to choose partners and mark their ‘personal’ red flags. For example, some people think that dating Scorpios is a red flag, while others believe that a red flag can be something as simple as someone not liking the sitcom “Friends”.
While the jokes could use a little toning down, we can’t argue that they’re often hilarious. Case in point, the hilarious meme in which someone asks, “didn’t you see the red flags?” while the other person replies that they thought it was a carnival. Relatable? Exactly. We think so too!
