Tarot cards, AKA Tarocchi cards, have existed since the 15th century, when they were created and hand-painted in Italy, though they were only owned by wealthy families. That is, until the late 1700s when Frenchman Jean-Baptise Alliette published the first tarot cards guide, in which he — interestingly enough — borrowed many ideologies from the Book of Thoth, an Egyptian text written by the god of wisdom in Ancient Egypt, Thoth.
A tarot card deck has 78 cards consisting of the Major and Minor Arcanas, representing the whole deck and affecting the readings. The Major Arcanas are 22 cards numbered from 0 (The Fool) to 21 (The World), with both of those cards being the most important cards in the deck because they usually influence your life lessons. These two cards specifically also tell you to have patience because something good is coming your way as well as making changes to your soul and life.

The 4 Most Important Cards In The Deck
These three cards represent an end of a cycle or a decision that has to be made in order to start a new fulfilling and toxic-free life ahead of you.
1- Eight of Swords
This card is considered a guide to the internal conflict you’re having, which is trapping you, just like the picture of the original card from the classic deck, where the standing woman is caged by swords, blindfolded.
If this card comes up, it’s usually guiding you to choose a path and make up your mind on a particular decision. The card acts as a green light for you to decide on the issue that you feel trapped in, and a sign that you should consider breaking your negative pattern of thinking.
2- The Death Card
A card of change and transformation, the Death card represents a closure to a toxic cycle in your life, which needs to come to an end. It also helps you increase your self-awareness and helps you initiate closure or realise that something needs to be done ASAP.
Additionally, this card helps with the growth of the soul as well as the regeneration of the new life waiting for us once the toxic cycle is broken.
3- The World
The World might be the last card here, but it signifies a new beginning. It’s the pause you need before a new cycle begins in your life, so it stands for new achievements, fulfillments, and successful conclusions, which will be achieved by you and only you (obviously). If this card comes up, then a drastic change is coming your way, so hang on tight.
4- The Fool
All the Major Arcana cards are derived from The Fool card, which is why it is one of the most important cards in the deck.
It’s also believed that Major Arcana represents The Fool’s journey. This card also gives off positivity and helps you accomplish success in life. When it comes to new beginnings, seeing this card means you’re getting into a new adventure and a new cycle that has tons of potential.
The Types Of Tarot Readings
Reading tarot cards doesn’t seem easy at first glance. But they aren’t that hard if you study the cards, and will even be able to give an amateur reading with the guide there to help you. However, there are many types of spreads, and we will list them for you so you know how they’re done.
Of the six tarot card readings, there is the Love Spread, which is self-explanatory.
There’s also the Success Spread, which we get the need for, while the Celtic Cross spread is complicated, but also the most interesting as it shows the depth of whatever situation you’re facing.
There’s also the Spiritual Spread and the Career Spread.
Lastly, there’s the Three Card Spread, which is one of the easiest spreads in the readings as it shows short-term information, past, present, and future–yes, that simple.
Extra tip: since we are in the Aquarius season, the Aquarius tarot card is The Star, which is one of the most beautiful cards in the deck.
