For a semi-rare phenomenon, supermoons have definitely been more frequent in the last four years. Since 2021, there have been four supermoons each year. The last supermoon of 2024 was visible in November. So, let’s take a look at all the ones we saw in Egypt in 2024.

Blue Supermoon, 19th of August

Visible from multiple vantage points, during the hottest nights of August, a large blue moon lit up the summer sky and was spotted from different areas across Egypt. It was called a Blue Supermoon as it’s the second full moon in the same calendar month. However, another reason for the blue moon is that the atmosphere created a blue shade on the moon. The next blue moon is expected to occur on the 31st of May, 2026.

Harvest Supermoon, 18th of September

The term refers to the full, bright moon that occurs near autumn. Unlike this definition, the Harvest Supermoon wasn’t that visible due to a partial lunar eclipse. However, it was still a mesmerising scene to witness from multiple locations.

Hunter’s Supermoon, 17th of October

The brightest of 2024, the Hunter’s Supermoon was extra phenomenal as its orbit was closer to Earth than the other four. This full moon was apparent all around Egypt, with the advantage of a beautiful night sky with a few clouds swirling around it in the windy weather.

Beaver Supermoon, 15th of November

Marking the fourth and the last Supermoon of 2024, the Beaver Supermoon wrapped the year perfectly with its appearance during the most aesthetical season of the year. With falling leaves and brownish trees, taking pictures of this full moon was a whole different experience.
