Fifteen years ago, we were introduced to Pokémon; an anime movement that played a huge part in many a childhood. We all fantasized about being Ash for a day and giving Pikachu as a pet (well I did, at least), but with the release of the Pokémon GO phone app, we can now step into the shoes of a Pokemon collector and CATCH EM ALL – even on the streets of Egypt.

The game is pretty simple; you just create your own character and head to the streets in search for hidden Pokemons, items and poke balls from the ‘PokéStops’ and even head to the gym to make your Pokemon stronger and take on other players in battles to lower your rivals’ prestige levels and satisfy your PokéEgo – all in real-world locations.

It’s a pretty revolutionary approach, but as with anything that comes to Egypt, it’s not without its quirks – here’s what you need to know about this craze.

-Egypt’s diverse landscape means that certain Pokemons can only be found in certain places…

You see a map, but a real Pokemon fan sees grass pokemons, rock pokemons, water pokemons…

Suddenly hitting the breaks on 6 October Bridge or the Ring Road because you spotted a Pokemon is not recommended.
