A New era of smart mobility in Cairo has arrived. Cairo’s streets have long been a testing ground for innovation, and the rise of smart transport apps has transformed how people move around the city. From convenience to speed and reliability, these platforms have reshaped daily commutes for thousands of Egyptians. But one new player is taking things further, JTNY, Egypt’s first officially licensed electric ride-hailing app, is bringing luxury, silence, and sustainability together in one sleek experience.
From Noise to Nuance: The Electric Advantage

Imagine a ride through Cairo’s bustling streets without the growl of an engine, just quiet comfort, clean interiors, and smooth motion. That’s precisely what JTNY offers. Officially licensed by Egypt’s Ministry of Transport, the app launched in May 2025 with a fleet of 100 fully electric cars, designed to deliver premium, eco-conscious transportation that elevates every journey. With options for both short rides and intercity travel, JTNY blends practicality with sophistication, setting a new benchmark for urban commuting.
Safety You Can See

At the heart of JTNY’s service is its commitment to passenger safety. Each car is equipped with an in-car camera to monitor the trip, ensuring every trip is recorded from start to finish. Drivers are handpicked and trained to meet high professional standards, guaranteeing not only safety but also peace of mind. This approach makes JTNY one of the most secure and transparent ride-hailing experiences in the market today.
Luxury That Comes at a Price

When it comes to cost, JTNY positions itself within the premium category, targeting users who value comfort, quiet, and exclusivity. Prices vary by distance and time, with waiting minutes costing EGP 5. While there’s no fixed rate per kilometre, the minimum fare is EGP 100. During our check, a 3.5 km trip cost around EGP 250, payable by credit card or via the app’s wallet (which requires a minimum balance of EGP 250). It’s an experience designed for Egypt’s A and B+ segments, where refinement and reliability take priority over cost. However, the app also offers cash payment options, along with a variety of pricing options that depend on the ride type.
Intercity Luxury, Electrified

Beyond city limits, JTNY is also redefining how travellers move between destinations. The app’s Intercity Luxury feature allows passengers to book fully electric cars for long-distance travel. For example, a one-way trip from Cairo to Alexandria costs EGP 4,167, while a round-trip costs EGP 6,250.
These rates rival private limousine services, but with the added benefits of being eco-friendly, quiet, and brand-new. For business professionals or travellers seeking a sustainable upgrade, this is the future of long-distance mobility in Egypt.
Where You Can Ride Today

At the moment, JTNY operates across Downtown Cairo, Dokki, Almaza, Rehab, Heliopolis, Maadi, Mohandessin, Agouza, 6th of October, New Cairo, Shorouk, Madinaty, Manial, Sheikh Zayed, Nasr City, and Sheraton. Expansion plans are already underway to cover more neighbourhoods across Greater Cairo, signalling strong growth potential and rising demand for electric mobility solutions in Egypt’s capital. You can easily download the JTNY application for iOS and Android.
Demand Is Surging and So Is Curiosity

The buzz around JTNY is real. With limited availability and a growing customer base, booking a ride isn’t always easy. Cars tend to sell out quickly. Though we couldn’t test the app firsthand before publication, the concept itself speaks volumes: luxury cars, eco-friendly operation, complete camera monitoring, and a service model built around comfort and trust. The question is: are Cairo’s riders ready to pay more for safety, silence, and sustainability?
