At first glance, you might think that he is the one taking the pictures; sacrificing showing up in any of the national team pictures in those “fancy” suits and white kicks. This is not the case though. Samir, wasn’t stuck on the plane’s toilet like Henedy, he wasn’t filming another pepsi/vodafone ad, he was actually already in Mother Russia.
Yeah, they should be travelling together and all, but apparently a (let us call it) miscalculation happened. After the match with Belgium, the national team was supposed to return for a farewell party before the world cup. This, however, was a problem for Samir when it came to light that his passport is about to expire, Masrawy reported. He couldn’t return because if he renewed his passport, he would be required to get a new entry visa to Russia, which was not feasible due to time limitations.
The team was returning on the days the government offices are on holiday (Friday & Saturday). If Samir had returned with them, he could have been the reason the team’s travel and settling in in Russia got delayed.
Accordingly, the decision was made that Samir will travel from Belgium to Russia, and wait for the rest of the team to follow suit.
