This year, the Met Gala's theme was inspired by J.G. Ballard's dystopian short story, The Garden of Time, where a garden filled with 'time flowers' alters the course of events. Celebrities at this year's gala got really creative with their outfits, often referencing the Garden of Time theme, literally and figuratively. They pulled off some amazing looks, from intricate floral motifs to vintage-inspired elegance.

Demi Moore:

Demi Moore took glam to a whole new level, wearing a dress made out of a 60-year-old panel of silk wallpaper with over 11,000 hours of embroidery and hand-painted chiffon petals. Her dress was repurposed into a Victorian idea of a woman blooming on the carpet and covered in thorns.

Bad Bunny:

This look perfectly represented the theme of time with the yet-to-be-finished suit. The more obvious nod to the garden theme is the floral bouquet made from the same material as Bad Bunny's jacket, reportedly intended to resemble a mixture of roses, Flor de Maga (the national flower of Puerto Rico), and the flax plant, which Sleeping Beauty pricked her finger on in the fairy tale.

Gigi Hadid:

Gigi Hadid has always impressed us with her Met Gala looks; this year was no exception. The model wore a flowing white Thom Browne gown adorned with an eye-catching pattern of 3D yellow roses inspired by references to ancient Italian gardens. Crafting the dress took a team of more than 70 people over 13,500 hours to make entirely by hand.

Lana Del Rey:

Lana looked stunning in a corseted dress made from silk, double georgette, and tulle, inspired by an Alexander McQueen design from nearly two decades ago. Under the current creative director, Seán McGirr, the dress got a modern twist. The highlight? Her unique headpiece was crafted from natural hawthorn branches!

Zendaya:

Zendaya stunned us not once but twice with two looks. Her first ensemble was a custom Maison Margiela creation, drawing inspiration from a design crafted at Christian Dior back in 1999. The deep blue and green peacock-like gown was adorned with metallic birds, berries, and vines. To complete the look, she topped it off with a towering feather headpiece. The second look was a 1996 Givenchy dress, which she accessorised with a headpiece crafted from a bouquet of two dozen roses.

Tyla:

For her first-ever Met Gala, singer Tyla transformed herself into a sand sculpture capturing the essence of time in the theme. She wore a dress made of sand as a nod to the sands of time.

Lewis Hamilton:

Lewis Hamilton's outfit honoured an unnamed slave who became Wales' first black gardener in 1768. While the flowers on his black coat matched the theme, the tribute went deeper and carried a powerful message.

Kendall Jenner:

Kendall never misses a chance to nail the Met Gala theme, and this year was no different. She arrived in a never-worn archival Alexander McQueen look that was initially displayed on a mannequin.

Charli XCX:

Charli took a simple approach to the theme, wearing a dress made of patchwork from white t-shirts from the previous century, and built something extravagant from it. This look required 200 hours of craftsmanship to create.
