Everyone always jokes about artificial intelligence (AI), saying that soon, we’ll all have AI-chipped brains controlling our every movement, and robots will take over the world, leaving no one needing to perform any productive tasks. Yet, we didn’t expect AI to impact our lives so hugely in such a short space of time. Instead, with changes incorporating AI machines and technology into our everyday lives, it fascinates and terrifies us. And we’re discussing the newest branch of AI takeover, Lensa.

The New Lensa App

The new app, Lensa, has recently gone viral, with over five million downloads. The app allows you to take or upload photos of yourself that are put through an AI selfie generator. In turn, the technology alters your appearance to make you look like a series of animated characters.

The app has exploded, with everyone using it and uploading their AI results on Instagram posts, as Lensa doesn’t have its platform to share posts or stories.

Our Thoughts on the AI App

At first glance, Lensa is a fun interactive app that allows you to experience a new futuristic and cool look. But there are consequences to be wary of, like providing the AI system with every detail of your facial features in exact measures.

Such apps raise many privacy and security concerns. And as many often don’t read the Terms and Conditions, there’s no public awareness on whether it stores and distributes the information it generates from consuming all your facial expressions from pictures you upload to third parties.

To highlight the dangers of such breaches of privacy, one of the Terms and Conditions of Lensa states the company can use the pictures they receive by you however they want. This can’t possibly be safe!
