In the holy month of Ramadan, families tend to gather around, usually at a senior relative's home. As per usual, these gatherings include an excessive amount of food, a lot of undeniably nosy relatives, and, well, basically a lot of stereotypes. Allow us to remind you of these stereotypes right here.
1- The Know-It-All
Via YouTube
The uncle who always lectures you on life, assuming that you know absolutely nothing. He makes it almost impossible for you to speak of anything without getting a free tutorial on how to live your life.
2- The Official Storyteller
Via Al Bawaba
The person, usually an aunt, always has embarrassing stories about everyone and enjoys sharing them. It makes you wonder what you have done to deserve to be in this super awkward situation.
3- The Superhero Cousin
Via Mandoob Tube
There is always a cousin that has had to work much harder to achieve the same. They make you feel like your life is a walk in the park, unlike their battlefield of an existence.
4- The Curious
Via Fi Al-Fan
A conversation with this person starts with a question on a sensitive personal topic such as losing or gaining weight, getting engaged or married, or even working in another field that is somehow better for you. Whatever your answer is, it has to be followed by some awkward silence and weird eye contact.
5- The Food Obsessive
via OSN
The host or their spouse always asks you about your opinions on their food at least four times an hour. For that, you should have a list of compliments ready to reply with on the spot.
If you are a true Egyptian, you will relate to at least two of those mentioned stereotypes. Tell us some awkward situations from your family gatherings!
