The countdown is well and truly underway as we await the official opening of the Tap East and in true Gossip fashion, we've weaseled our way into finding out what's in store for the new bar's opening weekend.

Located in New Cairo's Stella Compound, the Tap East - which sees Tap founder, Galal El Kerdani team up with Nacelle founder, Tito - is set to open on Friday at 1PM with a private event, things are kicking off with one of Cairo's best kept musical secrets, Dave Matthews cover band, Raw Acoustic. Later on, DJ Moez will strut his stuff, before Shehab Kasseb and Screwdriver take to the stage and the always excellent Tamer Auf closes the night.

Saturday will then see the Tap East open to the public, with more top-notch entertainment in line, with Funk OFF and the man they call the 'Boogie Monster, Ramy DJunkie, providing the music.

Building off the success of the original Tap, the Tap East marks a welcome addition to the nightlife scene (particularly for New Cairo) but as El Kedrani told sister site, Cairo 360, the new branch is doing things a little different to its Maadi-based brethren, with a bigger and more varied food menu and an outdoor area just a couple of the features promising to wow Cairenes. You can read the whole interview here.
