We're getting set to commemorate one of the most important events in Cairo's history for modern and contemporary art. The biggest festival of contemporary art in Egypt is returning for another year, and as usual, it will span several locations in Downtown.
D-CAF, or Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival, is now in its eleventh year. From October 12th through November 5th, this event is widely regarded as the greatest contemporary international festival in the Arab region. Therefore, allow us to tell you all about the event!
D-CAF 2023:
The calendar this year is filled with exciting new performances in media arts, contemporary music, the performing arts, remarkable discussions, and unique events. This year's event is particularly noteworthy because of the emphasis placed on the collision of technology and art.
There will be a wide range of cultural expressions on display at these concerts thanks to the involvement of 80 performers from 14 nations. Such events include conferences and exhibitions of visual arts that are cutting edge in terms of their use of technology and the freshness of their ideas for engaging with the audience.
Art Students' Delegation Program:
D-CAF's Art Student Delegation Programme is a unique and exciting opportunity for serious art students and art lovers. This programme, produced by Orient Productions, is an attempt to connect young artists with the diverse array of artistic opportunities presented by D-CAF. These artists may be aspiring actors, musicians, playwrights, directors, or lighting designers.
The programme provides art students with full participation in D-CAF 2023 and the opportunity to meet and network with a wide range of artists and professionals in the field.
Workshops & Seminars:
To further the festival's goal of encouraging audience participation, four free workshops will be offered this year, covering a wide range of topics. Some examples of these one-of-a-kind seminars include the workshops on augmented reality art, interactive audiovisual arts, experimental theatre, and theatrical directing!
