Unlike some children of famous people, Donia Samir Ghanem fully deserves her fame. While she grew up in a family of household names, with Samir Ghanem and Dalal Abdelaziz as parents, Donia paved her way to the top through hard work, talent, and dedication rather than depending on generational fame. And after a two-year hiatus following the loss of both of her parents to Covid-19, the singer, actor, and performer has made a big comeback with her debut theatrical project, Anistoona.

Anistoona

The family-friendly play follows an aspiring artist who gets picked by a maestro to be shaped into the next big thing. The maestro trains the artist and attempts to transform her into a star as she rises the ladder of fame, one step at a time.

This project had all the ingredients to succeed from the very beginning. To start, it had a great cast lineup featuring the multi-talented Donia Samir Ghanem and Bayoumy Foad as leads, alongside Karim Afifi, Samy Maghawry, Amr Abdelaziz, and Passant Seyad. Moreover, it recruited Karim Samy and Ahmed Abdelwehab to co-write the production following their success streak with El Beit Beity and El Kheta El 3ayma. In addition, Ayman Bahgar Ammar wrote five songs for the play, composed by Amr Mostafa and sung by Donia’s angelic voice. And above all that, theatrical director Khaled Galal perfectly glued all these components into the masterpiece that is Anistoona!

The heartbreaking news of losing the legendary Samir Ghanem surfaced in May 2021. As we started to heal, three months later, the passing of his beloved wife shook us. The two posthumous movies, Far2 Khebra (2021) and Tasleem Ahaly (2022) credited Dalal Abdelaziz, with the latter featuring a cameo of Samir Ghanem. With that said, we are incredibly proud that Donia’s comeback was an absolute success, and we can’t wait for her upcoming 15-episode series in Ramadan 2023.
