The modern classic American sitcom “Modern Family” is one of the most popular of its kind. The show’s 11 seasons follow three contemporary California families dealing with their kids, eccentric spouses, and demanding careers, each in their own hilarious ways. In light of the Eid Al-Adha holiday bringing us closer to our families, we decided to reimagine a version of this unmatched TV family with Egyptian stars!
1- Jay Pritchett (Mustafa Fahmi)
via Wikipedia & El Cinema
The patriarch of the family, Jay, is a wealthy businessman married to his second wife, Gloria. He has two adult children from his first marriage, a stepson, and a newborn baby with Gloria, whom he comically but stoically looks after. Ed O’Neill played this role perfectly, and we believe Egypt’s veteran star, Mustafa Fahmi, would bring Jay Pritchett’s grumpy, soft-hearted persona to life, too!
2- Gloria Delgado-Pritchett (Sherin Reda)
via Instagram & Entertainment Tonight
Jay’s second wife, Gloria, is a passionate and fiery Colombian woman devoted to her new family. She shares a son with Jay and raises her first-born son, Manny Delgado, from her previous relationship. Hollywood’s beloved Sofia Vergara killed this character with her sassiness and strong accent, but we know that Sherin Reda can effortlessly be the new Gloria!
3- Claire Dunphy (Dina El Sherbiny)
via Instagram & YouTube
Jay’s daughter, Claire, is a stay-at-home mom married to Phil. She has three children: Haley, Alex, and Luke, whom she attempts to raise according to her perfectionist manner. Julie Bowen plays the iconic character, and we think our talented rising actress, Aya Selim, has the determined demeanour to make an incredible Egyptian Clarie Dunphy!
4- Phil Dunphy (Sherif Salama)
via Instagram & YouTube
Claire’s husband, Phil, is a real estate agent who is often goofy and enthusiastic. He is deeply devoted to his family and constantly looking for ways to connect with his children. Ty Burrell plays this legendary character. But after witnessing the chemistry between Dina El Sherbiny and Sherif Salama in Ramadan 2023’s Kamel El Adad, we can’t help but think Sherif would be an excellent Phil to Dina’s version of Claire!
5- Haley Dunphy (Jamila Awad)
via IMDb & TV Fanatic
The oldest of the Dunphy children, Haley, is a rebellious teenager frequently at odds with her parents. Her chaotic scenes of getting in trouble, choosing bizarre partners, and angering her parents are undoubtedly one of the funniest parts of the show! The adorable Sarah Hayland portrays Haley’s character, and we believe that Jamila Awad could play the role equally amazingly!
