This intriguing Lebanese drama has everyone talking about it. Based on the 2006 Turkish series, Binbir Gece, the Shahid drama follows a woman as she scavenges for money to pay for her child’s cancer treatment. The drama continues when her boss makes her a life-altering proposition, offering to pay for her medical care if she spends the night with him. While there may be a Turkish and a Lebanese version of this enthralling drama, we reimagine what an American version with these Hollywood stars would look like!
1- Zein (Luke Evans)
via Ain & WP Teleshow
Sarah’s boss Zein is a rugged man from a large family. The two are in a love-hate relationship, so they expectingly keep going back and forth. Syrian icon Bassel El Khayat plays this demanding role, making the evilest person seem real. If an American remake were to be made, we would cast Luke Evans as Zein!
2- Sarah (Dakota Johnson)
via Emirates Woman & Glamour
Sarah is a quiet, serene widow who lives for her son. However, since she needs Zein’s help to pay for her sick kid’s surgery, she constantly crosses boundaries with him. This damsel in distress is played by the stunning Lebanese actress Razane Jammal, but we think Dakota Johnson would be fantastic in the role of Sarah too.
3- Karam (Michael Fassbender)
via Vogue Man Arabia & Independent
Karam is Zein’s friend and business partner who is a bit of a womaniser and has a serious crush on Sarah. Yet, his friendship with Zein wins out over his feelings for her. He is later told in the series that he has cancer but keeps the news to himself. Lebanese actor Nicolas Mouwad portrays Karam, and we think Michael Fassbender would be an equally great fit for the role.
4- Tima (Madelyn Cline)
via Facebook & ELLE
Tima is a good friend and coworker of Sarah’s. She’s full of life, naive, and friendly and is devastated by the return of an old flame who brings her nothing but problems. Lebanese beauty Sara Abi Kanan plays Tima, and she looks a lot like Madelyn Cline, whom we picture could play the role in Hollywood.
5- Ibrahim (Kurt Russel)
via L'Orient Le Jour & Coming Soon
Ibrahim has a rough face and a soft heart. He is Sarah’s father-in-law, and while he doesn’t take a liking to her or her son at first, he becomes completely drawn to both throughout the show. We think Kurt Russel could pull off a performance similar to Rafic Ali Ahmad’s outstanding and terrifying role.
