Gen Z has taken the dating scene by storm, and with it comes a whole new vocabulary to navigate the complexities of modern romance. Here's a crash course on some of the trendiest new relationship terms they use. If you encounter a new term you don't understand, worry not; we have your back!

Situationship

This term describes a relationship that exists somewhere between a casual fling and an official couple. Think late-night texts, hangouts, and emotional connection, but without the commitment! And remember, it's not it if it's not going anywhere.

Rizz

Forget game; Gen Z has rizz! This term means that someone has natural charisma and charm when it comes to attracting romantic partners. It's all about having the confidence and wit to woo your crush without being cheesy or overbearing.

Ghosting

Imagine vanishing like a ghost; well, that's ghosting! Without explanation or closure, it's cutting off all communication with someone you're romantically involved with.

Bread-crumbing

Think of someone leaving a trail of breadcrumbs to find their way back home. Bread-crumbing is minimal interactions to keep someone interested without committing to a real connection. It's emotionally manipulative and obviously not cool!

Love Bombing

Imagine being showered with affection, compliments, and grand gestures. It's an intense and overwhelming display of love early in a relationship. It might initially feel flattering, but the sudden shift in intensity once it fades can leave the partner feeling confused and vulnerable.

Gaslighting

Gaslighting involves denying or minimising someone's experiences and feelings or making them doubt their own reality. It's a form of emotional abuse that can have serious consequences.
