We’ve heard it all before: tourism in Egypt is at a low. You can’t argue that fact and Sharm El Sheikh has suffered more than most, but as the Baron Resort shows, there’s still life in the old girl yet.
Located in the heart of the stunning Ras Nasrani Bay, The Baron Resort Sharm El Sheikh not only ticks all the boxes of a perfect beach getaway, but it adds a few new boxes of its own.
Covering a total area of 100,000m2, 80,000m2 of the resort’s space is dedicated to a naturally and organically landscaped area that plays perfectly into the stunning surroundings – particularly the 600m of private beach. The location overall couldn’t be better – it’s a mere 15km away from Naama Bay and sits opposite Tiran Island, which opens up a whole host of diving opportunities – but we’ll get to that in a second.
The Fun
As a resort and hotel, Baron stands shoulders above its neighbours, thanks in part to its world-class facilities, starting with an Olympic-sized swimming pool – which is heated in the winter – where guests can get a heavy dose of sun. In addition, the Baron also boasts a salt water whirlpool – a perfect remedy to heal mind, body and soul.
There’s plenty more where that came from with the Baron’s top-notch spa facilities that include a steam room, a long list of different massages and treatments and a gym. It’s all set up for a perfect serene morning, but there’s plenty more to get stuck into.
The Baron Boulevard boasts a whopping 30 shops, including a beauty salon and a hairdresser, as well as a pharmacy, a supermarket and a variety of bazaars, as well as an Oriental area includes Oriental coffee shop .
If sport is your forte – or maybe it isn’t and you want it to be – the Baron has plenty of choices, including floodlit tennis courts – where lessons are available – as well as a beach volleyball sand court. Other activities available include table tennis, beach aerobics and a private jogging and cycling promenade.
Kids can be rather hard to please these days, but the Chico Kids Club, a kids’ pool and a beach and indoor playgrounds will keep them busy.
The resort’s Roman Amphitheatre hosts regular entertainment via the animation team, while the hotel’s venues host entertainment too – which brings us onto our next point...
The Food & The Drink
Ah yes. No memorable holiday would be complete without indulging in food and drink a little (or a lot) more than you usually do and Baron Sharm shines in this department. Be it Italian, Indian, Egyptian, BBQ & grill, seafood or just simple poolside or beachside dining, you’ll find a different way to eat everyday of the week.
When it comes to nightlife, sophistication and elegance are the name of the game, particularly with the Baron’s signature haunt, The Niche Bar. With expertly made cocktails and premium cigars, it offers quite the experience, while a billiard bar, shisha-rich oriental cafe and a dance bar are also at your disposable.
The Accommodation
You come for the food, the drink and the general beachside joy, but you stay for the touches of luxury that define Baron Sharm’s accommodation.
With over 360 rooms, some of which look over the stunning stretch of beach, each one offers guests a secluded balcony or terrace, a comfy sitting area and high-speed internet connections, among other features. All the lines, towels, bathrobes and slippers are made from the finest Egyptian cotton and you have top-of-the-line 24 hours room service, because, well, who doesn’t love to eat in the comfort of a bathrobe in bed after a day of sun, sea and sand?
The real lavish touches, however, are in the resort’s honeymoon-perfect royal suites, which are described as a ‘hotel within a hotel’. The VIP concept is as lush as lush gets, with a private pool catering exclusively to them among the perks – the peak of one of the most stylish, elegant and prestigious resort, not only in Sharm El Sheikh, but in Egypt.
