We’ve made a living out of celebrating and putting the spotlight on Cairo as an eclectic city where an adventure awaits you around every corner. It’s a sincere sentiment, but Egypt’s capital lacks a few certain things – a good cigar bar, or a top French restaurant, for instance.
Another thing that Cairo is in desperate need of is a lavish wine bar; while venues in which to enjoy a decent bottle of wine are plentiful, no one is quite as dedicated to the art of fermenting grapes as the Wine Cellar at Four Seasons Hotel Cairo Nile Plaza at Bella Restaurant.
The Garden City hotel holds its own charm and gravitas, but the Wine Cellar opens a whole new world of wine-appreciation for Cairenes. Able to hold 2500 bottles, the Wine Cellar is home to over 300 different variations of white and red wine from Italy, France and beyond. The folk at Four Seasons are so pleased with their new addition, in fact, that they have put together a very special five course menu that pairs each dish with one of the many wines – you can indulge in some Pinot Grigio Blush Venezie with the lobster bruschetta, sip on some Albizzia Chardonnay Toscana with your squid ink seafood ravioli or enjoy your traditional Italian cassata cake with some sweet Banfi Florus Moscadello di Montalcino – try saying that three times really quick.
The Wine Cellar‘s oldest bottle is a 1997 Nuits St Georges Remoissenet, while the most expensive, Château Feytit-Clinet, racks up at 8900LE – yeah, they aren’t messing around. In addition to having other unique fine wines such a Chablie, Pouilly Fumé, Château Fleur de Lisse, St Emilion Grand Cru and Chambolle-Musigny, the Wine Cellar also offers a range of top imported champagnes , with the option of booking a special Chef’s Table for six, perfect for gatherings and occasions.
