The Egyptian Ministry of Health has today announced that it has ordered bakery chain, TBS, to shutdown all operations effective immediately, according to Masrawy.com.
The news comes following several food poisoning cases during Ramadan tracing back to TBS' special Croissant Om Ali dish, with tens of customers finding themselves in hospital. Egyptian Minister of Health, Adel Adawy, announced that the TBS factory, located in 6th of October City, and two branches in Maadi and Dokki failed to meet food safety standards.
The news comes as a huge blow to what is one of Egypt's most popular bakery chains, though many have praised TBS management's quick response and thorough investigation. Adawy went onto to say that all TBS branches will be closed until food safety standards are met.
