The talented actor Salma Maher conceived the idea for Kalam Folan. It’s a series of short sketches, not exceeding 10 minutes each, on YouTube, playing out scripts written and sent to her by random people. These writings feature conversations they wish they had in their lives but couldn’t for various reasons.
Maybe the person they want to have the conversation with is no longer in their life, or they don’t want their relationship with that person to change. There are many reasons stopping us from having these conversations, and these sketches are an excellent way to get closure.
The Magic Behind the Screen
The episodes are produced by Magic Eye Productions. They make movies and conduct workshops. The brand started as a group of friends with shared interests in cinema and acting. This led them to create films, ads, music videos, and many other forms of art. Everything they produce is strongly related to their belief that making art is creating magic.

Each character is unique, and the performances are really touching. Even though the scripts were written by strangers, they hold experiences that most of us can relate to and emotions that everyone feels at some point in their lives. Watching these sketches is a truly cathartic experience.
Actors Supporting Kalam Folan
The second season features the incredible actors Hanan Youssef and Taha Desouky. Hanan Youssef plays the role of a harsh mother, with Salma Maher being the daughter who is trying to figure out her mother’s love. Taha Desouky portrays an ex-partner in a relationship that is rekindled by the end of the episode. Both performances were spot on.
