With Ramadan on the horizon, the television landscape is shaping up to be a battleground for drama. Traditionally dominated by male-led narratives, this year’s lineup brings an exciting shift as several prominent female stars step into the spotlight. From seasoned legends to rising talents, these stars are redefining the genre, proving that sha3by drama is no longer just about action-packed rivalries and intense family feuds; it’s also about powerful storytelling.
Here’s a deep dive into the highly anticipated series that will dominate, featuring notable performances and gripping narratives.
Esh Esh
Mai Omar, a star who has steadily built her career with a mix of romance, action, and social drama, takes on a completely new challenge in Esh Esh. Known for her roles with her husband, director Mohamed Sami, they are back with this ambitious project, which he both wrote and directed. Mai portrays a belly dancer, marking a significant transformation in her career. She is joined by an ensemble cast featuring Maged El Masry, Hala Sedky, Shaimaa Seif, Mohamed El Sharnouby, and Intisar, alongside guest appearances from household names.
El Atawela 2
Following the massive success of its first season, El Atawela returns with a sequel, bringing back its stellar cast led by Ahmed El Sakka, Zina, and Tarek Lotfy. However, the major additions this season are the legendary Fifi Abdou and Nesrine Amin. Fifi, a veteran actress and former belly dancer, has mastered the art of playing strong, charismatic women in sha3by dramas. Now, she is expected to bring that same energy to El Atawela 2.
Seed El Nas
Mohamed Samy is back with another show this season. It follows a high-stakes story set in the heart of Cairo’s working-class neighbourhoods, where power struggles, betrayal, and redemption take centre stage. With Amr Saad, Ahmed Zaher, and Khaled El Sawy leading, the cast adds a layer of intrigue to the production. All those are brought together alongside Elham Shahin, a powerhouse of cinema and television, and Reem Mostafa, known for her ability to switch between drama and comedy.
Fahd El Batal
Fahd El Batal marks an entry by Ahmed El Awady, alongside veteran stars Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Mahmoud El Bezawy, Lucy, Safaa El Toukhy, and Essam El Sakka. Adding to the ensemble are rising stars Caroline Azmy and Mirna Nour El Din, who have made names for themselves in the past year.
Welad El Shams
Meanwhile, Welad El Shams explores a compelling social drama centred on two childhood friends raised in an orphanage. The series follows their journey as they navigate life beyond the institution, facing repeated attempts to escape, only to be pulled into a world of crime and survival. Starring Taha Desouky and Ahmed Malek, the show features an impressive supporting cast, including Mahmoud Hemida, Jala Hesham, Mariam El Gendy, Donia Maher, and Ghada Talaat.
El Ghawi
Though Ahmed Mekky has been a household name for his comedic and satirical roles in El Kebir, El Ghawi marks his first venture into a full-fledged sha3by drama. The 15-episode series also features Aisha Bin Ahmed, Amr Abdel Gelil, Ahmed Badir, and Ahmed Kamel. With Mando El Adl directing, it promises to be a drama with elements of humour and action. The story remains under wraps and is expected to revolve around a character navigating the world of street hustlers and underground dealings.
