The hosting of the Dior “Celestial” fashion show at Egypt’s Great Pyramids of Giza brought many international faces to Cairo. And for many of these celebrities, it was their first time setting foot in Egypt. So, it was only expected that they take a plethora of photos of Egypt’s Pyramids or the Nile to flaunt on Instagram. What we didn’t expect, however, was photos to be posted depicting Egypt’s unfurnished street stores and unruly building structures. And that’s precisely what Elite star Arón Piper’s Instagram was concentrated with!

Arón’s Atypical Visit to Egypt
Spanish actor Arón Piper, most famous for his lead role in the Netflix series Elite, flew to Egypt to attend Dior’s grand event. Like many other international celebrity attendees, the actor and artist stayed in Egypt for a couple of days to soak in its culture and visit the country’s historical sites and monuments.
But Arón seemed to soak in Egypt and its culture too much. His Instagram was filled with images showcasing unusual and non-touristic spots in Giza, such as its many street kiosks and precariously attached building complexes. These unkept spots are areas only Egyptian nationals are accustomed to. Thus, it took many by surprise to see Arón showing them off on his Instagram page instead of the cliche photographs holding the head of the Sphinx with the tip of your fingers that visiting celebrities usually post.
Many were shocked to see Arón in such areas of Egypt and said it was embarrassing for the country to highlight the bland and untidy regions. But we’re appreciative that the star took it upon himself to visit all of Egypt’s streets – the good and bad – rather than sticking to its touristic and modernised places. And it seems that he enjoyed his localised visit, and we hope to welcome him and more international celebrities back to Egypt soon!
