Believe it or not, it’s not the first time for the legal series Suits to have an adaptation. If you’re familiar with K-drama, you probably know about the Korean version of Suits and may have even watched it. If not, then you, like many Egyptians, are watching our homegrown, well-made adaptation of Suits (in Arabic)! So, allow us to tell you all about the similarities between the Egyptian version and the original!
The plotlines are, so far, the same
The original Suits is all about the story of Manhattan’s leading corporate law firm led by Harvey Specter (Zein, as played by Asser Yassin), as he struggles with power and love. Mike Ross (Adam, as played by Ahmed Dawood) is a trainee at the law firm. So far, Suits (in Arabic ) looks like it’s going for the same plotlines and characters, but it is pretty amusing!

The script has barely changed
The two series have almost identical dialogues between the characters—so much so the adapted series feels like it was just translated from the original! However, the writers of this adaptation are steadily trying to make the dialogues more relatable to our Egyptian culture, which we think is going just fine, though we’d like a little bit of creativity. In all honesty, it would have been more convenient if the characters made more jokes related to our culture.

The styles
We know that suits and formal attire are the norms in any law firm, but it feels like every character in the Egyptian Suits wears very similar outfits to the characters in the original series. We are not complaining, though, because, without a doubt, our beloved stars are killing it in these formal outfits!

Asser Yassin as Harvey Specter
It feels like our dearest Asser Yassin is method-acting, as he’s effortlessly blended into the character of Harvey Specter! The serious poker face Harvey is known for was portrayed almost perfectly by Asser. In fact, even the walk and the tone of voice are pretty much the same, and we couldn’t be more amused with this performance.
