Being a mother is a full-time job, and we know this because we see that in our mothers’ lives. If you are a mum or know any mothers, you definitely understand the struggle of everyday life! From the pain of birth to the raising of children, mothers are superheroes for what they do, and we appreciate and respect them for this.

That being said, there are some types of mothers that we’ve seen across many Egyptian households. When our friends tell us stories about their mothers and how they are in their home lives, we can’t help but imagine them playing out. And, we also can’t help but remember all the endless types of mothers…and since we’re just in time for Mother’s Day, it’s time we point the seven most prominent types out. Keep an eye out to see if your mother is one of them!

1- The Overprotective Mother.

These types of mums, in particular, aren’t very easy to deal with. They always ask where you’re going and with whom, basically making you fill out a whole survey if you’re going out with friends.

She also probably has a curfew for you that will never be later than 10 PM because she’s doing this to protect you. In her point of view, she’s doing all that she can to make you be the “best version of you”. Sure, that’s the case most of the time, but sometimes, it’s annoying. We love them, though!

2- The Mother That Tries To Be Cool.

She might try to be cool, hip, and up to date, but in reality, she’s just too sweet and low-key trying to do her best to be a cool mom. And, she even does with your friends when they come over, as she tries to get the ‘deets’ from you and wants to know the “tea”. A perfect example of this type of mother is the one you’ve seen on Mean Girls, with her “I’m not a regular mom, I’m a cool mom” catchphrase.

3- The Best Friend.

Although the moms we’ve mentioned are all great mothers, we can’t ignore this one. See, when your mom is your best friend, she understands every single thing you say and go through.

This happens because you’re usually not afraid to talk to her about anything, and you don’t have a problem telling her all your secrets since you know she will ALWAYS understand and give you proper advice. She will even tell you about her problems without you even asking because that’s the type of mother she is. All she does is make sure you two bond in a healthy way!

4- The Overdramatic Mother.

If you don’t answer your phone the second she calls, you probably got kidnapped—we don’t make the rules. These types of mothers especially make a huge scene out of anything and everything you tell them, and they always overreact. For instance, if she asks, “how did you do on your exam” and you say you did okay, she will instantly make a huge dramatic scene that you failed the test. Take a chill pill, mama!

5- The Perfectionist.

If you have this mother, then we’re pretty sure you’re studying or have studied engineering or medicine in college. Why? Because she’s made sure you’re on track to get the perfect life that she wants for you. Even if you’re simply chilling at home, she’ll find you something to do, like clean your room or study.

She gets anxious over the slightest faults because your life should be absolutely perfect. To her, going in the right direction means you study, graduate, get married, and have kids, all in that order—this is the perfectionist mother’s only guide to a great life.

6- The CEO Mom

Work is her number one priority. Sure, she loves you a lot, but it always seems like she doesn’t have enough time to talk to you and ask about your day. Her work sucks up all her energy and time, so she usually doesn’t have anything left to sit and have a chat with you.

Also, she probably travels a lot for work. Nonetheless, we have no doubt that she’s trying to be there for you as much as she can, however different her ways of being there are. She still loves you, so know that.

7- The Fun Mom

She is down for everything! The best thing about this mom is that she never says no to some fun and adventurous time. If you want to travel for a couple of days to disconnect, she will pack your bags in a minute and book a place. And, if you need to go out and let off some steam, she will take you wherever you please because she is exactly that type of person that does anything for her children’s happiness. If she’s your mom, then you lucked out!
