Have you ever sat down with your parents or grandparents while they watched an old movie and seen a charismatic actor who stole your heart at first sight because he was that hypnotising and talented? Add to this the fact that he has style, charm, and exceeding attractiveness, and you’ve got yourself a certified celeb crush!
Although there are certainly a few current (and living) male celebrities that we have serious crushes on, we have to admit that Egyptian men from the golden era of cinema were another breed. To this day, we absolutely can’t get them out of our heads—they have us all but swooning over them for how handsome and amazing they were back in the day.

Naturally, we decided to narrow down our list of retro crushes to these five:
-
Roshdy Abaza
Known as the Casanova of the Egyptian cinema, Roshdy Abaza was so unbelievably attractive that we don’t believe those who didn’t (or don’t still) have a crush on him!
Coming from the wealthy Abaza family, the actor was recognised as one of the most charming men in the industry. People gave him the title “Don Juan” because of his natural charisma and sophisticated tendencies, with everyone’s tongues uttering the same phrase: “No one can resist Roshdy Abaza”. Can you tell we fit that description too?
-
Ahmed Ramzy
Ahmed Ramzy was an ordinary Alexandrian gentleman who later transformed into a sought after star after being spotted at all the right places and in several movies. He was a much-loved man of the screen whose films made us fall in love with his talent. We also loved his style and charming personality.
If you’re in the mood for some old-timey celeb gossip, we have an extra piece of information you might not know. Renowned actor Omar El-Sherif got him into acting, as he was one of his best friends (in addition to Roshdy Abaza, of course).
-
Youssef Fakhr Eddine
You might’ve heard this last name before since this eternal celeb crush of ours shares the same parents as Mariam Fakhr Eddine. Although Youssef Fakhr Eddine became an actor just like his sister, trust us when we tell you he’s equally talented with good looks and a lovable personality. So, it’s no wonder he became a crush to many girls who obsessed over him. And, we mean a lot!
-
Omar El-Sherif
One of the greatest stars of all time, the amazing Omar El-Sherif was a worldwide star who acted in many movies in several countries, not just Egypt. You might have seen him in classics, such as Lawrence of Arabia, Esha’et Hob, and Funny Girl!
If that’s not enough talent to make everyone swoon over him, then the actor’s beautiful love story with superstar Faten Hamama and conversion to Islam to marry him sure is!
-
Abdel Halim Hafez
Do we really have to explain this one? One of the greatest musicians of all time alongside the fantastic Om Kulthom and the legendary Mohamed Abdelwahab, Abdel Halim was a pioneer in many fields, including acting, singing, teaching music, and even being a businessman. Can you believe it?
Unsurprisingly, he was also very popular with the ladies, with his death being a tragedy that caused much heartbreak for girls all over Egypt. Some of them even went to extreme measures, which shows how TREMENDOUSLY loved he was and still is to this day.
