A few days ago, Egyptian Toronto-based singer, Malayka released a new episode of what she calls Mazeej Sessions. These are basically mashups of English and Arabic songs. And this time, the rising artist merged Maroon 5’s 2019 hit Memories and her mentor Samira Said’s famed Yom Wara Yom.

Both songs coming together was unexpected, but we have to say, the fusion had a unique flavour. Reflecting on the past, Malayka thinks we’d rather hold onto those special memories instead of letting go till we get reunited once again with our loved ones.

The talented artist was a quarter-finalist on The Voice 2019, which explains why the diva, Samira Said, was her mentor. Also, Malayka has performed at various music festivals such as Ottowa Grassroots and Canadian Music Week. Not only that, but Malayka had also been the opening act for international artists from Massar Egbari to Pink.

Listen to her mashup below and let us know what you think!
