Can you travel across Europe and make it through an entire week with no cash, no social media, and just Red Bull as a currency? Wait; what?! Dear adventure girls and boys, this is Red Bull – Can You Make It (RBCYMI)!
Red Bull’s famed competition challenges university students to survive an entire week with their wing-giving energy drinks as their only currency. We’re talking trading Red Bull cans for food, accommodation, entertainment, transportation, you name it. But how does it work and how can you participate?
How Does It Work?
Red Bull will fly your team to one of the five starting points; Barcelona, Milan, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, or Budapest. Your goal? Reaching Berlin in one week. All national teams will begin at the same time, at 12:00 CET on April 21st, from their designated starting point. Everyone will have one week to reach the finish line in Berlin on April 28th at 15:00 CET.
You won’t be allowed to have cash, credit/debit cards, and not even your mobile phone; just Red Bull. You’ll start your adventure with 24 cans, and as you pass checkpoints, you’ll be assigned new challenges, and earn more cans and points.
How to Earn Points?
Speaking of points, even though this is not a race, a winner will still be named. So, how can you earn yourself a sufficient amount of points? The scoring system depends on three main factors; checkpoint challenges, social media followers and support, and content quality. As mentioned before, you need to pass checkpoints (a minimum of 6) to earn points. There’s also a list of adventures you need to complete; we’re talking things like skydiving and activities of that sort. Last but not least, the social score, that’ll be generated by the digital content created by the team, its quality, and the interaction of viewers in terms of likes, comments, and shares. Red Bull will be giving a phone to every team to document everything, but it will only have access to RBCYMI’s official website.
How to Apply?
First things first, hit up two of your adventurous besties and make a team of three. You all have to be university students over the age of 18, and you all need to be on Instagram. If your team members are eligible to participate, then all you have to do is film a one-minute video, where you pretty much try to convince Red Bull why your team should go on this epic adventure. Yes, only one national team will be selected to compete against teams from other countries. So, get creative, shoot the video, upload it to Vimeo or YouTube, and make sure it’s public for sharing.
Click here to submit your application. The deadline is the 17th of February and voting will take place from the 18th till the 24th.
