After almost two decades of playing for Egypt’s National Team, and bagging up numerous championships and awards for the team and himself, Essam El hadary recently announced his retirement from international soccer. Often referred to as “El Sad El 3aly,” the goalkeeper became the oldest to participate in Russia’s FIFA World Cup 2018 this year, where we saw him save Egypt’s goal from an almost inevitable penalty.

This was not the first of his amazing saves, but it was one that topped an ultimate record of saves, the most notable of which occurred in the African Cup of Nations in the years 2006, 2008 and 2010. El Hadary told Africa.cgtn.com, “I hope I have succeeded in my mission over the past years. I extend my thanks and gratitude to my family, who have borne the difficulties of my life and supported me in all mysteps.”

We seriously can’t stand the fact that we won’t be seeing this great man on the field again, leading the National Team.
