Orascom Developments Egypt (ODE) just announced that it will begin to gradually re-open hotels in El Gouna, starting this Friday, the 15th of May. And by the 21st, all hotels in the Red Sea town, so as Taba Heights Hotels in Sinai, should be ready to welcome guests.

The decision came after the government announced that hotels can re-open their doors for domestic tourism as of the 15th of May, after being shut down completely since the 19th of March. So, hotels will be ready to receive guests right in time for Eid Al Fitr, however, at a maximum capacity of 25% to comply with the government’s regulations. By June, numbers of guests will be allowed to increase to 50% of capacity.

Of course, the guidelines from the World Health Organization (WHO) will be followed, and medical measures will be taken to ensure the safety of guests.

“We have used the time of the temporary suspension of the hotel operation to monitor WHO guidelines, government mandates, and public health advancements to tailor and implement sanitation and staff training programs that ensure our hotels continue to provide a safe haven for our guests and staff,” said Abdelhamid Abouyoussef, interim CEO of ODE.

Abouyoussef also added that ODE has released new, flexible booking terms and conditions to be able to meet short-term demand levels.
