Last Thursday, Cairo proudly witnessed yet another moment for the history books. Americana Foods opened a new branch of the popular fast-food chain, Hardee’s, in Nasr City. But that’s not the special news; it’s the fact that the entire staff is hearing impaired.
Minister of Social Solidarity, Nevine Kabbage, attended the opening in support of the cause, as it’s also part of the ministry’s initiative, “Hayah Gadida” (New Life). The initiative aims to include people with disabilities in society and increase job opportunities for them.
The protocol was signed in October 2019, and in only three months, all employees were trained, and now they’re ready to serve customers at the newly opened branch.
This is not Americana Food’s first time to support citizens with disabilities. The opening happened to take place at the same time when the reputable organisation celebrated the opening of KFC, Dokki; which has had a staff with disabilities for the past 25 years.
We’re super proud of the people behind this, and we really wish more businesses would follow in their footsteps and support inclusivity.
