The clock is ticking for one of the continent’s most anticipated events of the year, the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA). And of course, Egypt has its share of nominees that are on the verge of making us extremely proud.

There are 36 awards, including 10 regional categories and 26 continental ones. Egyptian singer Sherine Abdelwahab is nominated for the Best Female Artist in Northern Africa and the Best Artist in African Traditional awards. Meanwhile, Amr Diab, Tamer Hosny, and Mostafa Hagag are nominated for the Best Male Artist in Northern Africa award. Egyptian rock band Cairokee is also nominated for two awards; the Best African Band and the Best Artist in African Rock awards. Also, singer and actor Hamada Helal is nominated for the Revelation of African Continent award.

On another note, Tamer Hosny’s song Naseny Leh has garnered massive attention, landing its crew nominations as well. Tamer Hosny got nominated for the Artist of the Year award for his track. Not only that, his production company TH Productions is nominated for Best Producer of the Year, and songwriter Tamer Hussein also got nominated for the Songwriter of the Year award. Naseny Leh is also competing for both the Song of the Year and the Video of the Year awards.

The prestigious event celebrates Africa’s distinct music and its wide pool of talent. Winners will be awarded gold plated trophies that bring together two important elements of African music; the djembe drum and a microphone.

AFRIMA will take place from the 20th to the 23rd of November.
