A new season of El-Kebeer Awi has begun, and it already seems like it’s going to be a fun ride for us! The series we all loved back in 2010 still has jokes that we use and reference to this very day, so we are sure that its sixth season will make it far in the meme game as well. However, the classic Ramadan TV formula of 30 episodes might be not the best idea for a sitcom. But it’s too soon to judge, so let us see how it will go. For now, how about we tell you what we loved and hated from the show’s first few episodes?

Here is what we liked so far!

Fat Thor references

In the first episode, Johnny is seen being depressed and binge-eating all the time, a visual that evoked the situation for the God of Thunder, Thor, in Avengers: End Game! Instead of beer, Johnny goes for snacks and soft drinks, but it’s still hilarious. We think these references were intentional because our dearest Ahmed Mekky has always been witty and cultured, as we all know.

The nostalgia

Many of us enjoyed the secondary characters in El-Kebeer Awi, like Hadras, Fazaa', Ashraf, and Dr Rabee’, as much as its main characters. That is why a certain nostalgic feeling hit us when we watched them on the screen again, looking exactly the same as we left them! The cast of El-Kebeer Awi is iconic and possesses a charm that is one of the most notable things about the series.

Here are the things that we didn’t like as much

Corny jokes

With all honesty, many lame jokes were said that didn’t even make us smile! It feels like the writing was rushed somehow, and creativity wasn’t included in some jokes, which is sad to admit because El-Kebeer Awi used to make us all crack up. However, there are many episodes with new jokes to come, and we are still hopeful.

The Twins

Even though we deeply cherish the cast, we don’t seem to have the same fondness for El-Kebeer’s twins! We don’t know why, but the actor portraying the twins doesn’t feel like a good fit for the series. Maybe his lines are not the best, but, honestly, the whole concept of the characters isn’t great in our eyes.
