Yes, you read it correctly—Ms Ghaleb is launching a swimwear collection! Although Hadia could have simply dismissed the trend as an online joke that would soon fade away, she noticed that she could use it for market research, as it perfectly showed what many wanted to see: Versatile swimwear that can be used by everyone in many different ways.
In terms of design, Hadia didn’t forget about Hijabi women either. In fact, she centred them in her creative process as she remembered observing the swimwear market gap between veiled and unveiled women that arose in situations like some private beaches and pools banning the burkini and other types of modest swimwear.
Through HGL’s swimwear collection, though, things like beach security guards policing what veiled women wear will be left in the past as veiled and unveiled women will get to wear bright, confident-boosting summer sets, swimwear ensembles, and headwear.
