Egypt's all-time favourite fictional character is coming to back to the screens, but this time, to our laptop screens all thanks to Netflix. The global streaming platform just announced that it'll be adding a new show for the popular puppet, Abla Fahita, to its library.

Abla Fahita will follow the widowed puppet's post stardom journey. Fahita's road to fame kicked off with a Twitter account and a YouTube channel and led to Life in the Duplex, her very own live show that aired on CBC Egypt. Now that the puppet's dark humour and satire brought her both fame and trouble, she'll be able to tell the whole world all about it through this new scripted series.

According to Netflix, Abla Fahita will be dropped in 2020. However, the exact release date hasn't been announced yet. The series will be made available in 190 countries in over 20 languages. Seems like Fahita's going global and will soon become an international star.

Netflix has been showing noticeable interest in the MENA region for a while now. It first started with adding Arabic movies and shows to its library, then it moved to produce Arabic Netflix originals. Earlier this year, the platform revealed news about its first-ever Egyptian production, Paranormal, a horror series based on late author Ahmed Khaled Tawfik's 81-novel series Ma Waraa' Al Tabiaa', starring Ahmed Amin
